Sew into it.

I love being creative, using my hands, head and heart to make something unique that no one else has. I don't think I really have a specific genre I am "good" at, I just really enjoy doing it all. From model cars and HO scale trains when I was younger, scrapbooking, digital photography, painting, woodwork, refinishing old furniture, sketching, jewelery making, cooking and more...if its has minute details and endless steps then I most likely enjoy doing it.

When I was little (around 6-10) I used to sew alot. I made bedding and clothing for all of my dolls, handbags/totes and even helped my mom and grandma with some larger projects. Unfortunately in highschool and college I would alter something here but didn't really have the time or space for my own sewing maching, I was busy doing "other" things.

Late last summer, in hot/sticky Wilmington, I was given a brand new, Brother sewing machine. Excited at the thought of filling my "stay-at-home-mom days" with yards of ribbon and lace, making dresses for Little Big, I anxiously awaited finding our own place.

Well we found our own place and shortly after, NP lost his job (along with about 12% of the population in NC) and I was forced back into the working world, without even being able to open my new sewing machine. It, along with my creativity, was shoved back into the closet.

Fast forward about 8 months. Yes I am still working, no we are NOT in Wilmington and finally my "brother" has a place of his own. A small corner right outside my bedroom door, very convenient for the many late nights I have already spent with this machine.

I have so many ideas for things to sew...here are a few little ones I've completed so far... I got tired of the "normal" burp cloth so I revamped it a little with some super soft flannel and grosgrain ribbon.

Now here is my new diaper bag and a matching "hooter hider." Both were made for about $10 - Score! Those hooter hiders are normally pretty expensive!

So I guess you could say I am back in the beginning stages, oh well...not for long. I learn fast. Stay tuned for more...
