a cute little giveaway and a happy new year

Here's a super cute giveaway from maedchenmitherz - how adorable!

Tonight we are staying in with the kids to celebrate the new year.  I bought some white wine, which I am very excited about since I don't drink much, it is going to be a tasty treat.  I am making a bunch of tasty appetizers... Baked Chicken Nuggets with honey mustard dipping sauce, artichoke & spinach dip, a bean dip (can't go wrong with that one!) and last but not least, my very favorite, I-can't-let-a-New-Years-Eve-pass-without-snacking-on-this-one: cream cheese, cocktail sauce and shrimp dip.  It is so heavenly.  For the sweet tooth I am making peanut butter kisses another holiday favorite over at my house.

What tasty things are you whipping up for tonight?

a few more Christmas pretties

Here are a couple scarves I made for gifts this year.  They were so very soft and fuzzy!  Joann's had a sale on yarn and of course I didn't buy enough and went back to the store to get some for myself...and they wer out.  Silly me.

I crochet these the "long" way, using a 10.5 hook and 160 stiches, then I did alternating rows of single chain and double chain.

They are nice and long which I really like.

Isn't the pink set cute?

This one is twilight inspired, and my favorite.

Soft, fuzzy things make me happy.  :o)

I need some major motivation.
The Christmas slump has officially arrived and I am having a hard time getting things done or even venturing into my creative "zone."

I found this on a few blogs yesterday - it is just what I need!

sweet choo choo

In our home, one of my favorite Christmas traditions is making a gingerbread house.  Not the kit kind, the kind you actually bake yourself.  Nothing smells better than fresh gingerbread.

Well this year I wanted to try something different.  A train.  It would be like assembling a bunch of little houses.  Easy.

My friend google found me some ideas that I blogged about here.  I even found a new recipe that I love.  It calls for butter instead of shortening like usual (I couldn't find any and didn't feel like going to the store) so the new recipe worked great.  I found a template too...yeah, I cheated a little.

My little man was very please with the results.  He loves trains.

The "R" is for Riley, that's squishy's real name.  :o)

We will definitely be making another one next year!

getting back to normal...

Now that life has finally slowed up a bit I feel like I can come back to normalcy. The tree can come down; the lights put away, my craft room isn't covered in red, green and glitter anymore, I can finally slow down and take a deep breath, and BLOG. I've missed my space here. This will be a great week to get back into the swing of things before 2010 arrives.

Of course I will be sharing a few little projects I worked on before Christmas; since it is still officially the holiday season until Friday I thought it would be ok. :o)

Here are the accessories my little princess wore on Christmas Eve.
I found these at a children's boutique in Atlanta.  Aren't they precious!?

Of course I had to make a little hair clip to go with them. Some brown felt, cut out to look like a poinsettia, brown glass beads and a cute vintage button. I stitched the beads and button to the felt flower then hot glued the flower to one of those little “snappy” clips.
Very easy, simple and you can make these to match any outfit! It even looks adorable in my hair!

A little personal husband's grandpa passed away on Saturday.  So NP flew out to Chicago on Sunday and won't be back until Thursday.  I would have loved to go but Squishy needs to go to school, he's missed too many days already being out with the piggy flu and our vacation.

Anyway, since I am alone this week, I am busy with kids and haven't been able to sneak away to blog.  I do have a cute project I am going to post tomorrow though, although it probably won't be until tomorrow night.
(I'm a night blogger if you can't tell)

Here are the supplies...

Can you guess what I am making?

What are some projects you are working on this week?

Tomorrow we are building out gingerbread train too...exciting!  :o)

Happy Friday everyone!

I've transformed these balls of loveliness...

Into these squares of loveliness...

Now they are a super cute clutch like this one...

And it is all ready to be shipped out tomorrow, to Katie...the winner of the giveaway last week!  Please take a peek at her blog - it's very inspiring!

In other news, I was planning on making a few gingerbread houses tomorrow.  Then I started thinking how I could make them unique and something different than the usual house, which is cute but can be redundant...

Why not a train?  A gingerbread-train.  So I googled and here is what I found...

They are so adorable!

So I'm a dork, a total dork.

I reached 100 POSTS!  YESTERDAY.  I missed it.  Instead I am celebrating 101 today.  Thank you ever so much for joining me.  Please enjoy a few of my favorite holiday-ish things...

What are a few of your favorite things this holiday season?

In other news, I still have several unfinished projects waiting on me.  We spent the day over at Grandma's house, helping with decorations and fighting with bluetooth (its a long story), so I didn't have time to craft/sew/glue/paint/glitter.  Tomorrow I will finish something, I HAVE to.

birthday success

I am being a bad blogger and have no craftiness to post.  There are several projects strewn around the house, all half finished.  Hopefully tomorrow will remedy that and I can get some things done.  Little Big's Christmas dress is all cut out and waiting to be sewn together, I have about 10 little ornaments that are partially painted, a hat that needs to be finished, a half finished tutorial, you get the idea...

ANYWAY.  Here are a few pictures from the birthday party on Saturday.

Red Velvet in the raw

Red Velvet complete with cream cheese frosting...yummmm...

A happy birthday girl.

funny faces
(we've just learned to grit our teeth - mama loves it)

Pardon the sick looking baby, this is week #3 of us being under the weather.
(And yes, if you were wondering, we do have a little boy who is 5, but he doesn't pose for pictures anymore though.  Which makes me sad.)

and the winner is...

Are you excited?

I am...

Here we go...
#16 is Katie who said...

"My favorite cookie is really more of candy come to think of it. It's very easy only oreos and white chocolate chips to make oreo bark."

Congrats Katie!  Please contact me with your 3 color choices for the granny square clutch.  Also, don't forget to email me the recipe that you mentioned in your comment.  :o)  I'm ready to make some oreo bark!  To everyone else who stopped by to enter - thank you so much for visiting my little space!  It was so much fun to read all the comments and visit everyone's blogs.  Thanks again to Beth over at Sew, Mama, Sew for putting this all together!

sweet inspirations

The giveaway is here...

Please notice my new header.

First time "designing" something like this myself. I think it looks ok, what do you think?

I needed some inspiration for the Red Velvet Cupcakes I am making tomorrow morning for Little Big's party...

They all look delicious!  Hopefully mine will too.

Little Big had a very enjoyable 1st birthday today.  Let's just hope I survive her second 1st birthday party tomorrow.  Wish me luck with the Red Velvet...

the stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

Here is the giveaway!

And here are the stockings.
pardon the horrible lighting, the sun was on his way out the door when I snapped these pictures.

These were made for a friend who needed a pair of stockings for a soon-to-be mommy and daddy.  So cute!  I think they turned out nicely.  I was even able to finish them while suffereing from H1N1.  HA.  Even the flu couldn't keep me from being busy.  I think I will put these in my shop next Christmas, they really turned out cute.

In other news its December 3rd, that means 22 days until Christmas.  It also means that my little girl has been a part of my life for almost 365 days.  Its her big birthday tomorrow.  She is almost a YEAR OLD.  I can't believe it.  Wow...
so tiny and so perfect, only a few hours old

look at the difference that 365 days makes!

I have an idea for a tutorial, stay tuned, maybe Sunday...

That's right!  It's the ever-so-famous giveaway day over at Sew,Mama,Sew!
I am so pleased to be participating in this event!  If you are new to my blog... welcome!  (I am a little nervous, as this is my very first giveaway)

Here is the prize...
isn't it lovely?

Its a super cute clutch made out of... (that's right - you guessed it...) Granny Squares!  This clutch is inspired by the lovely girls over at RVA.

In order to be entered, please follow my blog (pretty please!) and leave me a comment with your favorite type of holiday cookie!  If you don't celebrate the holidays then just your favorite cookie.

Comments will be left open until December 6th at 9pm PST.  A winner will be randomly selected on December 7th!  I also plan on actually making the cookie recipe that was choosen by the winner, so I get a little reward too.  :o)

I will ship the clutch out by December 12th, unfortunately I can only ship to the USA and Canada.

This clutch will be made special order, so if you are the winner, you will need to pick out three coordinating colors of yarn and I will "custom-create" a clutch just for you!  If you like the color scheme above that's fine too.

Please email me with any questions at crystalmwa (at) gmail (dot) com and thanks for stopping by!
